Josef Zbortek was born in Mladá Boleslav and studied at the Secondary School of Applied Arts for Metalworking and Gemstone Processing in Turnov, specializing in goldsmithing. Over time, he expanded his skills to include precious metal engraving and stone setting — the precise placement of diamonds and gemstones.

He spent several years working for various jewelry companies in the Czech Republic and abroad before founding his own jewelry studio in 1989. There, as a designer and master goldsmith, he creates original author pieces and cohesive collections based on his own designs.
